General Thomas Moore

General Thomas Moore, son of Charles and Mary Moore, was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1759. He was the father of ten children between two women. Six children with Patsy Price and four with Mary Reagan. Thomas Moore served in the revolutionary War, most notably taking part in the Battle of Cowpens at the age of 16. General Thomas Moore passed on July 11, 1822 in Spartanburg, South Carolina and can be found in the family cemetery at Walnut Grove.

Thomas Moore was the owner of Fredonia Plantation down the road from Walnut Grove. Here is some more information on that plantation.

There is a cemetery located between the Zaxby’s and Bojangles on highway 221 one mile northeast of where the Fredonia plantation once stood. This graveyard served as the cemetery for enslaved and emancipated people at Fredonia.
